Geological Exploration of Zapadny Karazhal Deposit by Minerals Operating

Minerals Operating (MO) conducted comprehensive geological exploration at the Zapadny Karazhal deposit in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. The project, carried out between 2021 and 2022, included surface and underground studies to evaluate the mineral resource potential of the deposit.

The primary goals of the exploration were:

    •    To study the geological structure of the deposit;

    •    To analyze the mineral composition;

    •    To develop recommendations for future exploitation.

These efforts provided the foundation for long-term planning and enhancing the economic efficiency of the deposit’s development.

Surface Geological Exploration

During the surface exploration phase, MO specialists employed modern equipment and methodologies, ensuring the high accuracy of collected data. The main focus was on:

    •    Collecting core samples for detailed analysis of the geological structure;

    •    Conducting mineralogical mapping to determine the composition and distribution of valuable minerals;

    •    Assessing the deposit’s potential, considering both qualitative and quantitative resource characteristics.

The collected data formed a robust base for subsequent underground exploration.

Underground Geological Exploration

The second phase involved underground studies, complementing the data collected during surface exploration. Key aspects of this phase included:

    •    In-depth analysis of ore bodies to refine their geological model;

    •    Evaluation of ore quality to determine their industrial potential;

    •    Identification of the most promising areas for detailed development.

These works integrated the findings from surface and underground research, significantly improving the resource assessment accuracy.

Mineral Resource Evaluation

Based on the research conducted, a comprehensive mineral resource evaluation was performed in accordance with international KAZRC standards. This included:

    •    Categorizing reserves by classification;

    •    Preparing recommendations for developing the most promising areas;

    •    Conducting an economic feasibility analysis for further work.

The results of the project formed the foundation for strategic planning by the customer, Orken LLP. This successful exploration highlighted Minerals Operating’s expertise in handling complex projects.
