Happy Miners’ Day

On 30 August, Kazakhstan marks Miners’ Day — a celebration of those who work underground and in open pits.

Exploration and mining are links in a single technological chain. Exploration locates, evaluates and delineates the ore body, confirms the grade of the valuable components, and prepares the data for reserve estimation. Mine design and development follow. Only then do miners bring to the surface what has until that point existed only in a model and a report.

It is one job, separated by time and by shift. And it is measured by a single standard: how accurately what lies underground has been described on paper.
